Program Description

Event Details

This month's meeting we willl feature guest speakers from Pop Pediatrics to talk about picky eaters and pediatric feeding difficulties! We will discuss causes of feeding issues and when to reach out for help from a feeding therapist. Experiment with food to gain a greater understanding of how children experience mealtime. Caregivers will get helpful tips and tricks to assist in mealtimes as well as answers to any questions they may have! 

Guest Speakers:

Aneli Urritia

Ms. Urrutia is a speech-language pathologist who joined POP in September 2024. She earned her master’s degree in Speech Pathology from Florida Atlantic University in August 2024. Aneli is passionate about working with children, particularly in early language development and feeding therapy, and is dedicated to serving bilingual families. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, practicing hot yoga, and reading.
 

Cory Calvert

Ms. Calvert is an occupational therapist who has worked at Pop since June 2023, after a year of previous work in an intensive therapeutic program. She graduated from Elmhurst University with a masters in occupational therapy in 2021. She specializes in sensory integration and DIR/Floortime, working with children and families in a play-based, holistic approach. Cory also practices responsive feeding therapy from a neurodiversity affirming perspective and is trained in the SOS Approach to Feeding. She loves cooking and working collaboratively with children to nurture a positive relationship with food. In her free time, Cory enjoys spending time with her cats, Kaz and Theo, reading, and crocheting.

Katie Baker

Ms. Baker is a certified occupational therapy assistant, COTA/L and certified lactation counselor. She graduated from Kieser University in 2014 and has worked in a variety of pediatric settings, including schools, Early intervention and outpatient clinics. She has worked with infants to adolescence and specializes in sensory integration and infant feeding. Prior to her work in occupational therapy, Katie was a licensed massage therapist for 13 years. Katie is passionate about neurodiversity, advocating for children and working together with families in a holistic approach. Katie recently has begun to work toward a certification in Myofunctional Therapy.
